BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

The Board of Directors are selected regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin or ancestry and the same officers and committee chairs serve jointly as directors of Central Florida Amateur Softball Association, Inc. and Amateur Softball Association of Central Florida, Inc.

GOVERNANCE

 

 

The ASA Commissioner appoints qualified individuals to help manage the softball activities in the Central Florida area of authority as well as nominates key officers of the Board of Directors. The appointed individuals are then put before the local association board of directors for approval.

 

Those individuals who are appointed or nominated by the Commissioner are as follows:

  • Board Secretary
  • Board Treasurer
  • Board Member Representatives (membership representatives)
  • At Large Player Representative (one per 2,000 teams registered)
  • Player Representative (represents adult teams and players)
  • Junior Olympic Commissioner (manages youth program)
  • Umpire-in-Chief (manages umpire program)
  • Emeritus (individuals who have served the local association for at least ten years with outstanding loyalty and service)
  • Allied Members (organizations that meet the ASA national office standards for allied membership)
  • Vice President of Risk Management (manages the safety standards of ASA)
  • Vice President of Legal (protects the legal interest of the Association)
  • Allied Members recognized by the ASA National Office
  • At Large Representatives (two appointed members representing softball groups with considerable presence in Central Florida)

The Board President serves a two-year term and chairs all official board meetings, appoints chairmen of all committees (except those specifically identified by the Bylaws), and is ex-officio member of all committees. The committee chair appointments are put before the local association board of directors for approval.

  • Appeals Committee (Ad Hoc - when necessary)
  • Awards Committee (league awards, awards banquet, special recognition)
  • Classification Committee (review team classifications for championship play)
  • Scholarship Committee (scholarship programs
  • Tournment Committee (sanctions)

The Bylaws of the Associations' identify who the members are of certain standing committees.

 

The committees that fall into this category are as follows:

 

    • Finance Committee (annual budget and other key financial recommendations)
    • Umpire Relations Committee (liason between the umpires and the Associations
